Every Day is Client Appreciation Day! - Perimeter Veterinary Center
Welcome back to Tales & Tails with Dr. Ferrell. I talk a lot about myself in these blogs and this week I thought, “Why not talk about you instead?!” OK, I’m still going to talk about me, but in relation to you! When it comes down to it, we wouldn’t be here if you didn’t bring your pets to visit us. You’ve made Perimeter Veterinary Center possible. We’ve laughed with you, we’ve cried with you, and we’ve spent countless hours working with you to ensure your pet has the best life possible. We’ve welcomed new fuzzy babies to your family and we’ve helped you say good-bye to others. We’ve watched some of your kids grow up, even seen them go off to college when I swear they were just in junior high! You share your lives with us and you’re kind enough to listen to my Jiggy and Corey stories in return. We get lots of kind words, thank you cards and sometimes gifts in appreciation for our services. But are you aware of just how much we appreciate you? Do you realize how much your visits mean to us?
When I was a kid I was painfully shy. Yes, I know some of you just gasped in disbelief. But seriously, I was REALLY introverted. I used to make my younger brother go change our dollars for quarters so we could play Pac Man at the Pizza Hut. That way I didn’t have to talk to the stranger behind the cash register. These days there are times I need to stop myself from babbling on to whoever is nearby, but that didn’t used to be the case. Even going into vet school I was still relatively shy. I loved the medicine and science, and I loved the animals, obviously. But I dreaded our first day of seeing real clients. What in the world was I supposed to talk to these people about?! But you know what I discovered? It was so much fun! Discussions with people about their pets was easy since Fido was jumping around in front of us. I loved hearing people’s pet stories and conversation just easily flowed from there to the clients themselves and their families and lives. Before I knew it I realized….yes, I was a people person! I’d had no idea all those years of growing up. And to this day, one of my favorite things about my job is interacting with all of you.
I still love the science and the medicine and the pets and learning new things every day. But my interactions with you are what make my days as fulfilling as they are. Dr. Regehr and I are both so grateful to each and every one of you for sharing your lives and your stories with us. The relationships we have with you are what make giving a vaccine or prescribing medication mean so much more than it might. Your happy reactions to a sick pet getting well or a pet going home after surgery or finding answers you needed are what make our day perfect. Your interest in the information we share is what makes that information mean anything. You allowing us to be part of difficult decisions and saying good-bye to pets we’ve know for years is what gives our jobs meaning. There will never come a day at Perimeter Veterinary Center when we schedule appointments so close together that we don’t have time to chat with you, because that’s what makes our jobs fun and interesting and meaningful and sometimes hilarious. Being a veterinarian is hard. Yes, it’s playing with puppies and kittens and laughing and chit chat. But it’s also heart wrenching and challenging and physically and emotionally draining at times. But you, our clients, make every difficult moment absolutely worth it. And for that, we sincerely thank you.
Now here’s the catch. Of course there’s a catch! We’re asking for your help. Our clients are amazing. I don’t know how we’ve lucked out but I’m pretty sure Perimeter Veterinary Center has the best clientele a veterinarian could hope for. And as we grow, what we would really love is more clients like you. You’ve spoiled us and we want more of it! Like any business, we advertise and we have a marketing plan and we take the appropriate steps to keep growing. But our best clients tend to come from really great clients that we already have. If you have family or friends looking for a veterinarian, you already know about the experience they would have at Perimeter Veterinary Center. You know what kind of people we are and whether or not we’d be the right fit for them. No one can give them more information about a new veterinarian than someone who’s already been there. So click the share button and send our info over to someone you think might be interested.
Lastly, we’d love to have more of your feedback. If you took the time to read my blog, thank you! Now if you don’t mind, would you take one more minute to write a review at one of the spots listed below? Also, when you do come visit us, you’re going to receive a thank you e-mail with the opportunity to tell us about your experience. Please take a second and hit that “review” button. We can only grow and improve and meet your expectations if we know what you think and what you need. Thank you so much for everything you guys do for us and have a wonderful week!
